Minutes of the Meeting of North Fulton Business & Professional Women

6:30 p.m.          The meeting was called to order and President Peggy Titus-Hall lead the group in taking the Pledge of Allegiance. She welcomed guests and started a round of introductions.  The evening’s guests were speaker Patricia Stallworth, and potential members Joan McCall and Connie Ramey.

 

6:45 p.m.          President Titus-Hall introduced Patricia Stallworth, RIA, CFP, CDFA, and Founder and President of OYA! Inc.  Patricia led our group in an interactive session to share and develop our visions for our chapter (NFBPW).

 

7:30 p.m.          President Titus-Hall thanked our guest speaker and called our Business Meeting to order.  She began the business meeting by giving everyone an update on the progress of club member Rebecca Smith, who recently underwent back surgery. Thankfully, Rebecca is progressing well. 

 

Minutes of June Meeting - No minutes were taken at the officer installation.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Debbie Sundal reported for Rebecca Smith that our current balance is $654.36 and our most recent expenditure was $156.22 for a banner.  Peggy pointed out that the banner was on display and was used during our recent membership drive at the Taste of Alpharetta (attended by Peggy Titus-Hall and Rita Bauer).

 

Officer/Chair Reports:

Membership: Rita Gray invited everyone to participate in the Membership Committee and Peggy Titus-Hall encouraged everyone to bring a guest to every meeting.

Legislative: Rita Bauer provided the club with the highlights from the BPW legislative update.

Issues: Shauni Cohron calls for members to join her committee. Candice, Cathy, and Debbie volunteered.

Hospitality: No report

Young Careerist: No report

Finance: No report

 

                        Old Business:

Moved, seconded, and passed that NFBPW will donate $200 to the Drake House (Debbie Sundal and Shauni Cohron). [ACTION ITEM]

 

In discussion of this motion, President Titus-Hall suggested that the Issues Committee gather suggestions/proposals from club members regarding projects or charitable acts that we could perform during the 2005-2006 year.  She suggested that the Issues Committee send a note to the membership suggesting criteria for recommendations.  Please send your proposals to scohron@integritybank.com. [ACTION ITEM]

 

Moved, seconded, and passed that the Golden Circle Award entry be tabled for 2005 but that the process be used in the 2005-2006 year to guide our activities (Cindy Overton and Rita Gray).

 

                        New Business:

Moved, seconded, amended, and passed that future NFBPW meetings have an “Opportunity Table,” where members can, for a fee of $1 per meeting, display their business, issue, or event fliers/brochures for other members to review or take (Karen Bershad and Candace Azad). [ACTION ITEM]

 

                        Announcements:

President Titus-Hall asked all members who have not yet completed the Membership Survey to do so and asked for ideas on how we might fund or get more membership applications printed up. 

 

Cindy Overton volunteered to develop a Marketing postcard to hand out at public events (instead of or in addition to the membership applications). [ACTION ITEM]

 

President Titus-Hall asked for volunteers to use today’s meeting notes to develop a vision statement or strategic plan for the club for 2005-2006.  Cindy Overton, Rita Bauer, and Chris Van de Griend volunteered to work on this and have it ready for the next meeting. [ACTION ITEM]

 

President Titus-Hall asked for volunteers to help maintain the NFBPW web site. 

 

Speaker Patricia Stallworth can be heard on 91.9 FM!

 

June 13, 2005 – Siemens’ Toastmasters is offering free membership.  They meet at Siemens on Tuesdays from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

 

Executive Women’s Golf Association is starting a program for High Handicap Golfers on June 12, 2005 at Cross Creek.  Email cathywoods@aol.com for more information.

 

Canton-Cherokee Chapter BPW is raffling a PSP Value Pack.  $10 per ticket.

 

All NFBPW members are invited to Integrity Bank’s 4th of July Celebration.  Friday July 1 from 11:00 until 2:00.
