BPW/GA FALL BOARD MEETING REPORT
FROM SANDRA WOODEN, BPW/GA PRESIDENT
I would like to thank Elizabeth Barnhart Fall
Board Chair, Evelyn Merk President of Warner Robins BPW, and Warner Robins
BPW for the outstanding job they did for Fall Board this weekend.
On Friday evening we enjoyed delicious food and fellowship at Chef Audrey’s
Bristo and Bakery. Chef Audrey George also prepared the delicious food for
the Young Careerist Luncheon. Thank you Audrey!
Our speaker for Saturday morning was Brenda Herring, Regional Director for
the American Heart Association. She was able to share excellent information
on Heart Disease in Women.
Dr. Christine James, Young Careerist candidate from Valdosta, was selected
as our 2005 Young Careerist. Dr. James will be representing Georgia in
Dallas in July, 2006.
Judy Hulsey, Orientation Chair and Past State President, presented the
Orientation Workshop. Judy did an excellent job (enough if the power point
did not want to work). Thank you, Judy, for a job well done. The information
is available to the local organizations. Please contact Judy for a copy to
present to your members.
The BPW/GA Fall Board for 2006 will be hosted by North Fulton BPW. Thank you
Past State President Rita Gray for the bid to host this event for us.
State Conference 2006 Co-chairs Bettye Dunwoody (Rossville), and Virginia
Garrison (Cartersville) presented the dates of April 28-30, 2006, at the
Crown Plaza on I-285 East in Atlanta. Hotel rooms are available for $89 plus
tax per night. This is a lovely hotel, and we hope each of you will put this
date on you schedule and join us in Atlanta.
Past State Presidents Kathi Stockton, Rita Gray, and Virginia Garrison,
along with BPW/GA President Elect Glenda Hinton and myself, held a group
discussion on what we can offer our members on the local level. Thank you
ladies for sharing with those attending.
I appreciate each of you attending Fall Board, and we missed those that
could not be with us. Please make plans for State Conference April 28 – 30,
2006. I will be attending BPW/USA Interim Board in Washington, DC February 1
– 4, 2006.
Sandra Wooden
BPW/GA President
