President's Notes

Hello All,
North Fulton BPW is so awesome! What a wonderful job was done of hosting the State meeting, in early November. To all of those that helped by contributing to and stuffing goody bags, registering guests, attending the meeting and helping with the clean-up, I am so grateful and I thank you! A special thanks to Rita Gray for coordinating the meeting on behalf of all of us. You got us organized and let us know what to do to make our club look great! Thank you, Rita!
I have my sweaters out, lists made, and shopping begun. It always seems there is more to do around the holidays than we have hours in the day. I hope in your busy schedules you’ll take the time to join your friends from BPW, for our annual holiday dinner. Debbie has found a new restaurant for all of us to enjoy. Details are in this newsletter.
During this holiday season, we all know people who have lost someone dear to them. Our special thoughts and prayers go out to those families at this time. Of course, we have all been touched by the death of John Bennett, Mary’s husband. For the past year he and Mary have valiantly battled his cancer. They are a living testimony to the marriage vows. Please keep Mary in your thoughts during this time.
Happy Holidays and wishes for Peace to you and your families during this season.

Cindy Overton
NFBPW President

Holiday Party Reminder

This year's NFBPW Holiday Party will be held at Dolce Vita Ristorante Italiano in Johns Creek. The festivities will start at 6:30 p.m. The details of the excitement can be found on the Holiday Party Invitation. Please join us! It's a fun time and a gathering for celebration of food and friendship. Please RSVP to Debbie Sundal by December 6.

Movie Night The Secret

Our January meeting presentation will be the feature documentary film The Secret. The film reveals the "Great Secret" of the Universe that has been passed throughout the ages, traveling through centuries. This is "the secret" to everything - the secret to unlimited joy, health, money, relationships, love, youth: everything you have ever wanted. A brief discussion follows this exciting evening. Come join us for dinner and stimulating conversation!

NOTE: Since the film is 91 minutes long, we plan to show a couple of segments of the film so we can have time for discussion.

Editor's Notes

In the recent BPWHQ newsletter, I was struck by the obituaries of two of BPW/USA officers. The Honorable Ruth Easterling, who passed away November 1, and Marian Sheldon Ash, who passed away on October 14, were both long-term members of BPW--and I do mean long-term. Ruth had been a member for 57 years, Marian for 43 years.

I joined in 1977 and became President in 1980. The women I met at the Morris Area BPW were instrumental in my making the decision to go to college full time so I could achieve more in my career. One of my fellow members went back to college at 40. I was 28 at the time, newly married, and extremely frustrated in my job as an executive secretary. I knew I had much more potential, and so did they. It was a true pleasure to find NFBPW and to rejoin. May all NFBPW members have the same growth and longevity that both Ruth and Marian experienced, and may we all grow and flourish in our commitment to BPW.

BPW/GA 88th Annual Fall Board Meeting/Conference

NFBPW President Cindy Overton, BPW/GA Foundation Chair Earlene Roden, and NFBPW Secretary Rita Gray assisted in registering attendees for the Conference held at the Embassy Suites in Alpharetta on November 3-5. Here are some pictures of the events and people involved.

BPW/GA President Glenda Hinton conducted a very efficient and informative meeting. The highlight of the day was guest speaker, Congressman John Linder from the 7th District of Georgia, who gave his views on the Fair Tax Act. His comments were well received, and he remained after the presentation to autograph his recently release book, The FairTax Book: Saying Goodbye to the Income Tax and the IRS. We were also fortunate to receive a welcome from Fulton County Commission Chair Karen Handel, who is the newly elected Georgia Secretary of State.
There were opportunities for networking and sharing of ideas among the clubs in Georgia, many of which were helpful in development club membership and fundraising discussions. All in all, it was a wonderfully successful conference!

BPW Katrina Support

Although Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, not much has changed in those impacted areas. Many families remain uprooted, homeless and without the support they need. As we enter into hurricane season, Business and Professional Women/USA explored ways to use its grassroots power to advocate for and support women and families. Click here to learn what BPW/USA is doing to help, who we are partnering with, and what you can do to support BPW/USA efforts. Let's remember our neighbors in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi.
