President's Notes Well, we're coming to the close of our BPW year. Our nominating committee is formulating our officer nominations for 2006-2007. I hope you consider participating. There is so much we can do as a team, and I believe that NFBPW will be thrive under Cindy Overton's presidency. I also hope that all of you will step up to the plate and do what you can to grow our group. There are a few things coming up in the near future, including:
Click each of the links for more details. I hope you can join me at the State Conference. It's a great way to understand what BPW does here in Georgia, as well as meet some dynamic women who have made and are making an impact for businesswomen throughout the state. Looking forward to seeing you at our regular meeting this week on the 2nd! Warm regards, Peg Titus-Hall, CPCC |

Editor's Notes We only have one more newsletter after this one for this year. Where has the year gone? I feel it is time for someone else to pick up this rewarding job as editor. We have a lot of talent in North Fulton and need to spread it around. Anyone interested please let our nominating committee and Cindy Overton, our President-Elect know. I am sorry that I was unable to make the last meeting so I don’t know who was selected on the nominating committee. I will need to get next month’s Newsletter to Peggy by the 14th of March to give her time to get it in on the web site early and to submit for this year to send to the State for judging before April 1. Please submit anything you'd like to be included on or before March 13. Please let Cindy and the nominating committee know if you'd like to work on the newsletter. I will be happy to work with you as a consultant if you desire. Earlene Roden, Editor

BPW/USA Policy and Action Conference Washington, DC On February 2-3, North Fulton BPW members Rita Gray, Skip Gray, and Rita Bauer joined BPW/GA National president Roslyn Ridgeway, BPW/GA President Sandra Wooden, BPW/GA President-Elect Glenda Hinton, BPW/GA Past Presidents Kathi Stockton and Toni Davis, who is also State Legislative Chair at the BPW/USA Policy and Action Conference in Washington, DC. (See photos) The purpose of the first day of the conference was to train BPW members in the art of advocacy, provide them with talking points on the three legislative issues for which we were advocating (with a bonus issue added in at the last minute), and to provide BPW members with the time to meet with our members of Congress. Please take a moment to read more on the important legislative issues. The entire event was a great success, and all North Fulton BPW members are encouraged to send letters to their Senators and Congressmen encouraging them to support the legislation summarized above. Please see Rita Bauer if you would like a copy of the sample letter provided by BPW/USA. Rita Bauer, Legislative Chair Click here for additional legislative updates and action alerts!
History of our Emblem At the first birthday of the Federation, during the St. Paul Convention in 1920, the national President, Miss Gail Laughlin, appointed a committee of three to work towards the selection of a design for the Federation Emblem. Following this, in February 1921, under the leadership of Mrs. Lena Lake Forrest, second National President, the committee selected from a number of designs submitted, the one we now use. The designer of our emblem was a sculptor named Nygaard. The Nike was selected because it is a symbol of progress. |

Member Spotlight Cindy has lived in Alpharetta for 11 years. It was here that she met her husband, Jake and had their son Charlie, who is now 6. She also has a stepson, Cole who is 21 and a Junior in college. Jake and Cindy started Business Partner 3-1/2 years ago. They were the first store of the franchise to open. The growth of their store and the growth of the franchise system have been exciting to watch. Cindy is currently President-Elect for North Fulton BPW. She spends her free time as room mom for Charlie's Kindergarten class, is active in several networking groups and plays taxi service to basketball, baseball and soccer--a job she thoroughly enjoys. |
